This book was very well written, but did not keep me interested at any point. In this book, you follow a suicidal man who has lost his wife as he teaches a high school soccer team how to play the game. While the book describes the game in a very beautiful way and gives lots of information about random topics along the way, I found it to very boring.
I learned a big amount of information about the game of soccer, and the author did a good job researching the topics and writing about that topics. Personally for me, I am not interested in sport books and books focusing on information, so this book did not pull me in. That being said, the lack of action and more discussions about information did not keep pulling me in.
I also found this book kind of ended at a random spot. I did not understand how this brought the book to a close, since it did not seem like it was ending in a smooth manner.
While reviewing this book, I also found numerous spelling and grammar mistakes. I am hoping this was one of the Advanced Reader’s Copies. I didn’t let that have a negative view towards my opinion of the book while I was reading it though, it just annoyed me when I couldn’t read a sentence smoothly.
Overall, I was not fond of this book mainly because I am not the fan base for this kind of book. This book would be great for anybody who likes sports or learning new things from a fictional setting.
