Evy Loe, What Do You Know? by Professor Stork – Book Review

Book Review

I know they say don’t judge a book by its cover, but Evy Loe, What Do You Know by Professor Stork has one lovable and engaging cover! It’s just as fun as the book itself, but you’ll have to pick the book up yourself to find that out.

Evy Loe and her Dad go on a magical adventure to an art gallery. On her imaginative adventure, Evy Loe wears imagination glasses that bring art to life in the most imaginative and creative ways. The comparison of her imagination and the actual art prints in this book brought out my inner art lover, and I’m sure many adults reading this book with their young friends will agree – this is a great way to help get kids into art. Art is creative and imaginative in all the best ways and can tell a really fun story (much like a children’s picture book).

Along the way, there are also fun facts along the bottom of the pages to help those little learners soak up more info. I really like how they were integrated with the story and helped bring it to life even more! Learning and morals in a children’s picture book is always one of my favourite tie-ins.

The black and white illustrations bring so much life to this book, and I honestly felt that they told the story perfectly. Despite the lack of gross amounts of colour, the style and tone of the designs fit just right. There are pages with colour every once and a while, but the mix made the book just feel right. I think the illustrator did a marvelous job making this children’s picture book tell a fantastic story through her drawings.

Overall, this is a fantastic read that I highly recommend to anyone looking for a great, art-filled picture book. Little art lovers will be delighted! Imaginative stories like this are why I love picking up a children’s picture book from time to time.

Four out of five stars.

I received this book for free from the published in exchange for an honest review.
