Darke Passion by Rosanna Leo is the first in a brand new paranormal investigation series with a dash of romance mixed in with mystery, suspense, and paranormal hijinks. In this book, we meet sister number one – Edwina Darke – who is one of three ghost-hunting sisters who’ve started a business together. Their latest client, Simon Teal, owns an old B&B in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, that has a lot of spooky history dating back to the battle of the War of 1812. There’s a dark presence in the B&B, and it’s clearly an issue for Simon’s business. People are fleeing and complaining about the creepy antics that go on, so Simon takes it into his own hands… Kind of. He calls up Edwina and her sisters who come to the beautiful historical site. But it’s Rosanna Leo we’re talking about… Edwina and Simon MIGHT just find a little romance in between all the ghost-hunting.
The investigation brings forth a mystery of what happened back in 1812. A missing woman, a sad soldier, and lots of historical drama ensue…
I binged this book! I couldn’t help it. A book like this is fun, fantastical, and has just the perfect mix of romance with drama and history. And, of course, it is set in one of my favourite locations – Niagara. I can’t recommend this book enough for those who love a great contemporary novel set in the good ole north. With the paranormal elements, the historical context, and the slow (but then super hot) burn romance, this book is a win! Also, the cover is pretty alluring too….
I cannot wait for the next book in this series and I will be banging down Rosanna’s door (not literally) to get my hands on it. Rosanna writes in a way that is so easy and simple but keeps you hooked at every turn. She also doesn’t leave you with cliffhangers at the end so you feel quite happy with your achievement in the end, whether you want to continue reading the series or not.
I hope you have a chance to pick up this spooky tale and enjoy it as much as I did (and still do!). Who doesn’t love a good ghost story? There’s just enough creep factor with the mystery mixed in with utterly adorable romance, a fantastic bond between three sisters, and all the beautiful descriptions of the scenery of Niagara-on-the-Lake.
