#BookReview Twisted Traffick by Geza Tatrallyay

Twisted Traffick is an incredible sequel in the Twisted Trilogy, and oh my gosh does Geza step it up!

Most of the time, the second book in a series is quite dull – it’s prepping the reader for the third, exciting, final act. Yet, Geza makes the second book top the first one and ups the antics!

I honestly liked this book WAY more than the first novel (and the first book was phenomenal). It delves further into Greg, Anne and Julia’s story and gets them heavily into the action.

This story is not for the light-hearted – it’s about the sex trade and human trafficking side of our dark world. There’s some really brutal sex scenes in this book, so I wouldn’t recommend it for readers who like the lighter side of thriller novels. But, if you’re okay with a little brutality in your story, this book is perfect! It’s thrilling, it’s fast paced and it delves into serious issues. And, oh boy, it’s descriptive. You feel like you’re there (which at some points, I don’t think the reader really wanted too)!

I liked how the story progressed overall. It starts out how you’d expect, with Anne and Greg enjoying their lives, and suddenly they are thrust back into the action. The plot seems realistic within the story it’s set, and it even goes back into the past to give us insight into the drama. The book also ends in a way that can make the book stand on it’s own, which is a big plus for me as a reviewer. I believe that most readers would be able to jump into this book and not be totally confused, but I would recommend reading the first one.

My main con was that Julia definitely gets the short end of the stick again, so I hope in the next book she isn’t needing a knight in shining armor. Other than that, the book is a real hit!

Five out of five stars!

One Word: Wow!

Twisted Reasons by Geza Tatrallyay was an epic, suspenseful thriller that kept me hooked at every turn!

This thriller novel follows an international story revolving around stolen uranium – trailing across Russia, Vienna, Georgia, and other beautiful landscapes. While I don’t know much about those areas or the atomic bombs, I found Geza’s retellings to be enough to get me really hooked to the story. Mix in Geza’s skill of weaving a beautiful story, epic character arcs and the suspenseful twists and turns and you’ve got one awesome novel!

DISCLAIMER: There were some R rated scenes in this novel (both sexual and horrific in nature), so if you are not comfortable with brutal topics, this book might not be for you.

My pros: The chapters are short (which makes it great for little caffeine breaks for this reviewer!), relatable characters who grow over the novel, epic twists and turns (some I saw coming, but I’ve watched too many soap operas), incredible descriptions (landscapes, history, etc), and the story comes to a “close”. There is a sequel, but I like when a book can be it’s own entity and have an ending.

My cons: The cover is boring. I am the type of person who will pick up a book because the cover looks cool (yeah, I know, don’t judge a book by it’s cover but some covers are just SO awesome), so I might have skipped over this book. Luckily, I didn’t, because this book is a real gem and a must read for those who love suspense and thrills!

Overall, this book was intense and awesome. I really enjoyed it and I want to read more! I liked it more than most famous/popular thriller novels are out there. It felt more real and not “typical”. While it does have a “typical” story line – thriller, suspense, mystery, politics, war – it felt unique by the way Geza wrote it. He knows his material, he is clearly a very talented writer, and he makes characters we get invested in. Most stories follow the same old, same old path with the same story arc – Geza made this feel different, and I really enjoyed it. That being said, I will definitely be picking up the sequel!

Five out of five stars!!

Quick Book Review: Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn

I love Gillian Flynn and her writing story! I decided to read this novel after I became obsessed with all things Gone Girl.

This novel, from my understanding, was the first one she had ever written that was published. Even for a first novel, it was amazingly thought out and had me hooked at every word. I found it to be a little short and I saw the ending coming, but I still found the book addicting and well planned.

There’s not much wrong that I can critique about the book, other than wanting more action to happen or the book to be longer (but I think that’s because I adore Gillian Flynn and I just want more books and writing by her out right now). I did see the ending coming from the very beginning, but that might be due to the part that I read and watch a lot of books and television shows about crime.

I found this book not to be as good as Gone Girl, but still an amazing read. For me, the book was a five out of five stars. A good crime novel mystery that made me want more out of Gillian Flynn immediately.

Wonderful novel! 5 out of 5 stars!

February Romance Book Review: Fantasy (Visitation, North Carolina 0.5) by Lori Foster

Book Review:
Title: Fantasy
Author: Lori Foster
Date Read: September 17th – October 14th, 2016
Date Reviewed: October 14th, 2016

Introduction: I went to a local book store since they were having a clearance and I found many short but sweet novellas by Lori Foster floating around. After I bought many, this was the one I decided to start with. After months of this book disappearing around my house, I was finally able to find it and get down to reading it. The only reason it took so long to read was because of my busy schedule. It was a quick, sexy read despite my lengthy reading time.

Spoilers Ahead?: Yes!!

Quick Summary: Brandi Sommers bids on a man at an auction, only to please her sister. To her surprise, she gets stuck with security consultant Sebastian Sinclair for an all expenses paid, honeymoon vacation. When the two of them are forced to be together, emotions flutter and drama ensues.

Evaluations: This book is sexy and emotional. It definitely has its flaws (it’s quite stereotypical) but it’s a fast, sexy read. I found that this book kept me interested and I didn’t get bored, but I was hoping for some not so stereotypical plot devices. Sadly, I didn’t get any. Brandi is quite innocent, has only gone to bed with anyone once She was forced into bed by many men , and does not initially want to have any relation with Sebastian. On the other hand, Sebastian is an expert in the sexy time territory, he’s super hot, he runs a successful business, makes lots of money, and has many other tropes that women are looking for in their sexy hero.

I’m somewhat glad that this book is not the first in the series (it’s 0.5), because it seems far to typical for a romance novel. It gets tiring reading the same pair with just a tiny difference get the same romantic plot and ending. The two characters dislike each other, than one of them develops feelings, and then they get together, but conflict ensues and they break up, only to get back together and have a happy ending. It’s typical and boring, but at least Lori Foster’s skill of writing makes up for the very typical storyline.

Overall, I enjoyed this novel. I got to turn my brain off for a while and enjoy myself. Would I have liked some wicked plot twists? Yes. Nonetheless, it’s still a great book.

Strengths: This novel is a quick read. Lori Foster does an amazing job at keeping the plot moving forward and not having any holes that makes the reader want to put the book down. All of the characters and plot devices didn’t seem out of place either. This book is a great, quick romance read for the avid romance reader.

Weaknesses: This book is typical. It’s hard to find an atypical romance novel these days, so if you are looking for something out of the ordinary in the romance department, this book is not for you.

Score: 3 out of 5.

I really enjoyed this book, but it didn’t hit the ball out of the park for me. I will definitely read more by Lori Foster, but I’m not grasping for another novel by her immediately. I would recommend this book for romance readers because it’s a beautifully written story!! Overall, it’s a good book! Lori Foster knows how to write her romance.
