Release Day Blitz – Lacey Black’s My Kinda Player

my kinda player cover

My Kinda Player:

AJ Summer witnessed four of her sisters fall in love and settle down. But not her. She’s stuck in a rut, destined to spend the rest of her life watching from the dugout, kissing frogs. Then one night, she meets a mysterious stranger, who makes her feel alive and realize she’s not as broken as she thought–until she wakes up alone.

Sawyer Randall lost everything in a split-second when a game-winning play resulted in a career-ending injury. Looking for a fresh start, he settles into the cozy beach town of Jupiter Bay. A chance meeting with a gorgeous woman leaves him restless and anxious for something he swore he’d never want again–love.

But sometimes Prince Charming isn’t who he seems. What happens when circumstances are misleading? Will their love be strong enough to see them through unscathed? Or will AJ be played by the player?

*Though part of a series, this book can be read as a standalone. It is intended for those 18 and over due to graphic language, descriptive sex, and the world’s most inappropriate grandparents.

 Sneak Peak:

“Are you blind?! What kinda call was that?” AJ hollers at the ump behind home plate while the crowd around us boos and screams their frustration at the horrible call.

“Dude, your girl is vicious. Remind me not to get on her bad side,” Dylan mumbles to me as we watch AJ rant at the umpire.

“No shit,” I reply, shocked that such harsh words just came from my sweet little schoolteacher’s mouth. “It’s kinda hot, though.”

“Definitely,” my brother replies quietly. “Did you see how many hotdogs she ate?”

“More than you.”

“More than you and me combined, bro. A woman who looks like that, talks like a sailor, and can hold her own in a hotdog eating contest? Marry her, dude.”

I snort in reply, merely because I’m afraid if I open up my mouth right now, I might actually propose. If I was falling in love with this woman before today, well, seeing her in my element, trash talking, and burping warm beer has pretty much sealed the deal for me. There’s no doubt in my mind that I’ve fallen head over heels in love with AJ Summer.

“Can you believe that call? What kinda horseshit is that? A blind monkey humping a football could have seen the tag! He was out by a mile,” she seethes, her eyes burning with fire and passion.

“I saw,” I tell her, wrapping my arm around her shoulders and pulling her into my side. “Horrible call.”

“The worst,” she grumbles.

“You’re scaring the big burly guys behind us, honey,” I tease.

She glances over her shoulder at my words. “You mean Bill and Tom? Shit, who do you think taught me those bad words?” she asks, making me laugh. “They really appreciated the autographs, though,” she adds. As soon as the Rangers fans sat down behind us before the game started, they recognized me and started chatting. I signed a few autographs for them and a handful for others in the vicinity.

Excerpts:

I checked on the two men who were drinking coffee and topped them off before grabbing the silverware basket and a stack of paper napkins. Then I settled into a back booth and began rolling the silverware in the napkins and piling them on the table. That was when the bell above the front door jingled, and I looked up from my task to see none other than Judd Jackson standing in the doorway.

My heart started beating overtime, and my hands lost their rhythm, making a compete mess of the silverware in front of me.

Judd was scanning the diner. His eyes hadn’t made it to my corner yet, so I just sat there and stared at him. He was still wearing the clothes he wore to school: a black T-shirt that stretched taut over his chest and biceps, under a faded leather jacket, faded jeans, and a pair of black Nikes. He was tall, six-foot something, and his shoulder-length golden hair was pulled back into a ponytail.

I loved his hair. It wasn’t exactly straight, and it wasn’t exactly curly. I guessed it was kind of wavy, and it looked amazing when he had it up in one of those man buns.

When he started to grow it out last summer, I thought the school had changed the dress code just so he could have that hairstyle. Now it was something Asher and his friends mocked. I was glad he kept it, despite what those jerks said to him about it.

Finally, those blue eyes landed on me, and when he smiled, I forgot to breathe for a second before answering him with a smile of my own. The boy was just too gorgeous for his own good.

As he approached the table, I sat up straighter, anticipation tingling along my skin and making my fingers feel almost numb. Why was he here? Did he come looking for me? I wasn’t sure he even knew I worked here.

“Hey, stranger.”

“Hey, Judd.”

There was a beat of silence as we just looked at one another, Judd with his hands jammed in his pockets, and me still sitting in the booth, the bundled mess of napkins and silverware in front of me.

“What brings you to Sally’s?” I finally asked.

The middle school girl in me was chanting, “please say me, please say me,” while my practical side wanted to slap her across the face and tell her to get ahold of herself.

“Thought I’d come by and talk to Sally,” he said with a shrug. His smile slipped a little, and his brows scrunched together, making a dent form between them.

I could feel myself deflate a bit, but my curiosity was curtailing the disappointment I felt.

What did he need to talk to Sally about? Everyone, of course, knew who Sally was. Her personality was as big as her hair, and she had been running this diner since Kennedy was in the White House.

“Here, let me walk you back to the kitchen. I’m sure she’s almost finished with the chili for the dinner crowd.”

I slid out of the booth and led him around the corner and back toward the kitchen. I could feel his eyes on my back, and it almost made me stumble a few times.

I opened the swinging door and called out, “Hey, Sally! Got a visitor,” as I guided him through the doors and into the kitchen.

ENTWINED by Lacey Black: Blog Tour!

entwined-lacey-black-book-cover

ENTWINED Synopsis:

Sidney

10 years. 3,650 days. 87,600 hours.

That’s how long it has been since I saw my best friend. But who’s counting? Walking away from Luke Thomas was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but the choice was out of my hands. I left Las Vegas a seventeen-year-old girl, afraid and alone, and returned about the same. I was forced into a situation I didn’t want to be in. Until that day. I haven’t seen him in ten long years, but one look at the man he became and that killer smile, and I knew I would never be the same.

Luke

Life goes on.

I learned that valuable piece of information at a young age, but sometimes a memory creeps up and smacks me square in the face. Or more accurately, a person. The day my best friend walked away was the day I realized I’d never be the same. My life became work, family, and women, and I was doing great. Then she walked back into my life. One look at the grown-version of Sidney Rogen leaves me breathless and yearning for more.

But love is never easy.

And our love story isn’t perfect.

In a heartbeat, one person can wrap around you so tightly, you’re entwined forever. That’s our love.

And now for a sneak peak!!

Luke

“So, I’m sure you see why I think we should break up, right? I mean, we’re both heading off to college soon, and I want to experience everything that college life has to offer.”

I gape at Jessica, my girlfriend for the past five months. Wants to experience everything? That’s code for ‘wants to sleep around.’ I’m a dude. I know.

“And you just had to do this tonight?” I ask, looking back at the doorway that leads inside my house. The same house where my entire family and a good amount of my friends are gathered to celebrate my high school graduation.

“Well, I just thought it was best to cut the cord now, you know? Like…just do it.”

“Whatever, Jess. If you want to break up now, that’s fine.”

“Really?” she asks, twirling her long brown hair around her pointer finger. “You’re gonna be okay?” She gives me those big brown, puppy dog eyes that won over my heart–and my dick–during Christmas break.

I’ve known this moment was coming since I started dating Jessica. I didn’t see anything long-term developing with her. Call me an asshole, but I knew she was just someone to help me pass the time during my final year of high school. But I also knew going into this that she felt the same way. I guess, in a way, we both used each other to keep ourselves company until we moved on to the next stage in our lives.

“I’m going to be fine, Jess. We both knew it was coming to this eventually, right?”

She continues to twirl her hair around her fingers. Why had I never noticed how fucking annoying that was? “Listen, we had a great time. If you’re ever in the Seattle area, look me up, ‘kay? We can maybe spend some time together for ol’ times’ sake.” Her smile tells me exactly what her comment means. She’s looking to hook up again if I’m ever close to where she’s attending college.

“Maybe,” I reply with a shrug.

As much fun as I’ve had with Jess in the last few months, I don’t see myself reaching out to her anytime in the future. The sex has always been all right, but nothing I see myself driving upwards of eighteen hours to get. There’s plenty of mediocre ass left in Vegas if I’m that desperate for a hook up. And, honestly, as an eighteen-year-old red-blooded male on the verge of experiencing college life, I’m pretty sure I’ll have no problem moving forward from here.

“Bye, Luke. It’s been fun,” she says before placing her full lips against mine. The kiss is brief, closed mouth, and lacks the usual tongue and groping we generally partake in. This kiss is goodbye.

I watch as she walks away, heading around the side of the house so she doesn’t have to go back the way she came; where my entire family celebrates. Gazing out over the darkened backyard, it’s not lost on me that there’s no going back from here. That I’m finally leaving the only home I’ve ever known. I’ve graduated high school, will start UNLV in a couple of months, and will finally be out from under the controlling thumb of my mother. Ever since I was younger, Blake and I chalked it up to me being the baby of the family for her ever-present hovering and involvement in my life.

It’s time for me to grow up and experience life.

And I’m starting it without a girlfriend.

The slightest sound of something thumping against wood pulls my attention away from the emptiness of night and towards the small fort in the back corner of the yard. Built ten years ago out of pieces of scrap wood we’d find around the neighborhood, the fort was my brother’s and my escape from the house. We’d spend hours upon hours in that thing, playing with GI Joes, having Nerf gun wars, and when we were older, sneaking off to steal our first kisses.

But I know the noise coming from inside isn’t from my brother. There’s only one person who still uses that fort: our neighbor, Sidney.

CRAZY BEAUTIFUL Blog Tour – Jessica Serra Huizenga

Crazy Beautiful Synopsis:

Kinsley Moore and Lucas Graham make great friends.

They make even better friends with benefits…

Kinsley Moore doesn’t believe in love. As an independent, self-determined entrepreneur, she has other things to worry about. Besides, she knows guys are incapable of commitment, so there’s no use getting close.

But when she meets Lucas Graham, her new landlord’s flirty, sexy son, she’s more than up for some casual fun.

Lucas is in no way looking for a relationship either, so when he’s offered a no-strings, strictly friends-with-benefits hookup with a beautiful girl, the opportunity is too good to pass up. He’s not able to give his heart away, so it’s perfect Kinsley prefers to keep emotions out of their arrangement.

Except when Lucas and Kinsley start to feel something more, their complicated pasts threaten to overshadow any chance they might have at a future together.

Can Lucas prove he’s capable of love?

Can Kinsley believe she is enough?

Excerpt:

I grab the key from my jacket pocket and insert it into the lock. I step inside and practically squeal out loud. All I’ve worked for has come down to this moment and I feel so incredibly happy I could burst.

And then, as almost always, my happiness is replaced in a heartbeat with a sudden sadness. An emptiness.

Kelley picks up on it and puts her arm around me. “They’re so proud of you, Kins. I know things got all messed up, but you’re still allowed to wish your parents could be here to see all your dreams come true in person. Here you are, making shit happen all on your own, just like you always said you would.”

I give her a nudge as if to say I know, but thanks for being the one to say it out loud. I take a breath and try to gather up as much enthusiasm as I can before saying, “This is going to be great. Thanks again for coming and helping me. I’m glad you’re here.”

She smiles but stays quiet for a second, and I can tell she wants to say something else. I know what’s coming but pretend not to, choosing instead to move up the stairs to the loft attic that will be my bedroom.

Kelley follows and looks around, clearing her throat. “I know I’m great and all, but you also deserve to have someone special to share this with. You know, now that you’ve committed to a job and a home, maybe you’ll consider committing to some…other things.” She tosses it out all nonchalant but I know what she’s getting at.

“Nice try, Kell. Just because I am now a supposed ‘responsible’ adult with a business and a house doesn’t mean I’m ready for a relationship.”

She acts like she doesn’t know what I’m talking about. “I meant maybe get a dog or something. You know, someone to keep you company.” I only have to roll my eyes in her general direction for her to back down. She throws her arms up in mock surrender. “OK, I get it. You’re fine by yourself. As usual. I just think you could put yourself out there a little more. You know, maybe date a little.”

I cross my arms defensively. “Hey, I date.”

“Hooking up with a guy you meet in a bar is not dating.” She gives me her stern you know I’m right look.

“That happened once!” I shoot back indignantly. She raises her eyebrow, causing me to relent. “OK, twice. But the second time doesn’t count because I only made out with him a little before he passed out.”

Kelley just laughs and shakes her head.
