#BookReview Hot for the Holidays by Marie Force, Tamsen Parker et. al

Happy Holidays! Merry Christmas! Happy Christmas! Merry Holidays!
To continue this amazing season of holiday books and cheer, check out a super sexy collection packed full of romance and sexy Santas!!

To begin with, I was not able to read all of the stories in this super sexy collection. I do plan on finishing it, but I figured this book deserved a review during it’s peak.

I originally picked up this book for free during a wondrous sale so I could read Tamsen Parker’s story. I’m a big fan, so of course I wanted to read about some sexy Santa/Elf play with a bit of a May/December romance. Gosh darnit, it was sexy and seriously silly. The amount of Christmas puns killed me. I’m not quite sure how she can mix ridiculously hot sex scenes with Christmas puns and make it work, but goshdarnit she did it!

Holly is home for the holidays and is working at her kinky sex play/dungeon where people hook up and play for fun. Her boyfriend is supposed to pick her up, but like most boyfriends who you go out with when you bounce off to post-secondary school, he turns out to be an absolute dick. He sends his Dad Cal instead and it’s slightly awkward. That is, until, Holly and Cal decide to have some dirty, sexy Santa-Elf play. It’s hot, it’s full of fa-la-la-la-la-la-ing puns and it’s a story I’d love to see expanded. I want to see the fall-out of Holly and her former boyfriend’s relationship SO BAD. Holly and Cal seem like a better couple anyways.

It took me a few days to read it, but not because it wasn’t good. I decided to drag it out to enjoy the fabulous-ness of Tamsen’s writing. Then, I stayed for the other stories because this anthology is so good!

In full, this collection has 13 sexy holiday stories to fill up your TBR. Some of my recent faves are apart of this collection (Skye Warren, Marie Force, & Noelle Adams) and they’re all short and sweet (or super naughty, whichever you prefer). If you are going to get anything out of this series, come for an author you’ve loved in the past and meet some new authors to binge in the future.

Five out of five stars!

#BookReview Gabriel’s Redemption by Sylvain Reynard

Gabriel’s Redemption is the third book in the Gabriel’s Inferno series by Sylvain Reynard.

The first two books in this series were real hits – they were dramatic, full of suspense and tension, and romantic. This book, on the other hand, was mostly full of sex scenes and Gabriel demanding that Julia have a baby.

In all honesty, I really wanted to like this book. I love Sylvain’s writing style and have fallen in love with his words. His stories are smooth as silk and feel like a master class in writing. But, this time around I felt like Gabriel was a giant jerk and Julia was putting up with it. Gabriel wanted a child and Julia didn’t, so they had a child. A woman was hitting on Gabriel and tried to woo him away, and that story line just… ended? I wanted to see more than it just suddenly end. It felt like it could have not been included and the story would have ended the same. Paul pining after Julia was also a story line that didn’t go very far. Rachel wanting a baby also felt like it was cut short. The entire ending felt suddenly rushed too! It felt like there was a lot of wasted potential.

I still loved the writing and I felt connected to this story. I like Gabriel and Julia’s story so I felt like I needed to know how it ended. There’s going to be another book in this series so I’m curious to see how Sylvain will make that story go. This book literally felt like Sylvain was answering some reader’s prayer to continue the story, but didn’t pack the punch that the last two books did. It was just a very long epilogue.

The highlights of this book are as followed: Julia’s Dad’s story arc, Julia’s lecture, the beautiful scenery described and the love story continuing.

That being said, I still liked it. All of the hype built up for this book was probably why it fell so hard for me. My expectations were way too high. This book is the honeymoon for Gabriel and Julia, not the finale. I truly hope the next book finishes off some of the storyline Sylvain opened up. Especially since this book was just one giant cliffhanger.

Three out of five stars.

P.S. The Superman and Lois Lane comments were really funny but felt out of place. I came for the love story and stayed for the comic book references.

#BookReview For Her Own Good by Tamsen Parker

Oh man, oh man, oh man! Another Tamsen Parker gem!!

This book is a 6 out of 5, but unfortunately that rating does not exist on this site so I guess I can settle with just a 5 out of 5.

Seriously though, this one was a DOOZIE!

Tamsen has amped up the plot, has some truly epic references and kept me hooked the entire time! Starla and Lowry (amazing names, by the way) are one incredibly interesting pair that make this book feel more than just a romantic, erotic tale. These characters felt real – mental health issues, sweet and seductive storylines and one heck of a finale! This book is just AMAZE-BALLS.

So, down to the actual plot – Starla was Dr. Lowry Campbell’s patient way back in the day (about 15 years if you are a numbers person) and suddenly he’s back into her life. Except, this time he’s not her doctor and is instead a sexy man she’s interested in. She liked him back then, but now the lines are blurred and it’s their chance to pounce at each other. Their romance is slow burn and faces many obstacles along the way. Starla has some mental health issues but deals with them like a champ. Lowry is an understanding man who is hella sexy and ready to be in her life.

If I have to summarize ALL of the amazing things I liked, here’s a list to start you off:

1. Lowry’s descriptions and accents and OMG Tamsen seriously made this man my dream man. She’s killing me! Reddish copper hair, smart doctor and the European twang… Ugh. SO SEXY.

2. This story has such a way with words – “Tongue like a whip” – seriously majestic. I loved some of the amazing phrases used because they added SO MUCH to this book. It felt like this book had attitude and was sassy at times. Example number two: “He deserves to have his heart cut out with a rusty spoon and fed to him.”

3. Star Wars references galore! “My enemies encased in carbonate” was the best gem, but there’s SO MANY.

4. “Daddy kink kryptonite” is the best way to describe this novel AND that’s a quote from the book!

5. Oh, and did I mention there’s a dominatrix? Oh yeah, this book is SPICY.

This slow burn novel is ridiculously amazing. Tamsen’s writing is only getting better and this book was seriously cool. Not all readers will like it – it takes about half the novel for the couple to get dealing with their romantic emotions – so readers who like quick, fast-paced romance might want to steer clear. There’s also talks of self-harm and suicide, so this book might be a little triggering for some.

Overall, I think this book is incredible! As I said, 6 out of 5 stars level good! I liked that Tamsen keeps taking risks with these stories. They are different, totally romantic and erotic and well written! What more can this reader ask for?

Five out of five stars!

#BookReview Naked by Kay Brandt

Naked by Kay Brandt is an Survivor-esque erotica.

Cadence and Jackson are the leads in this exciting, Survivor like show where they travel to Madagascar and must survive in the wilderness. The main plot sees them filming their episode for the famous television show, but it’s more than just that. This book is filled with sexy, erotic scenes from behind the scenes of this show. The producers and filmmakers, the leads and the relationships outside of the show. It’s wild, hot and purely erotic.

This book does have a bit of a narrative since Cadence and Jackson do have to survive in the wilderness, but I’d say it’s more erotic than drama. I like the inclusion of a plot that isn’t just about sex, because it felt like it spiced up the book a bit more. I like having a little story in my eroticas so it’s not just sex.

That being said, it’s absolutely an R rated novel. The book is rather short – around 200 pages – so it’s an easy read to binge. I binged the whole book and I found it worked well that way.

Naked is almost a “stereotypical” erotica – the way they speak isn’t always realistic but it’s intended to make you hot and bothered. If you’re looking for Shakespeare, this isn’t the book for you!

The worst part of this book is how it ends – a cliffhanger. Those dreaded cliffhangers drive me absolutely NUTS (pun intended), but don’t be worried loyal readers! The book hints at a sequel to this novel so you’re not left hanging.

I’d recommend this book if you like books with lots of sex or something that is highly erotic. If you’re like me a like a little plot in your eroticas, pick this one up! I’d definitely say this some quality work from Kay Brandt!

Four out of five stars!

#BookReview Rogue Ever After Anthology Collection by Tamsen Parker, Hudson Lin, et al.

This final collection in the Rogue series has proven to be another lovely addition!

This LGBTQ+ book is full of sweet (and sometimes sexy!) stories. F/F, M/M, poly and more, with each having a different focus. Some of the stories center around politics, Hollywood and even just good, old-fashioned relationships.

I can’t get enough of these short stories, because they are so easy to slip into. They aren’t difficult to follow, they make me smile, and I just love these authors. Since every story is different, you get a really good mix of romance and erotica.

I focused on three stories from the collection, but all of them were marvelous.

Hudson Lin’s Ipso Facto ILU follows Jonny and Brandon, who are OMG levels of cuteness. Brandon is a political science PhD candidate and Jonny is a famous podcaster. Following their super sweet love story was such a treat! Brandon’s shyness and adorable nature made me love this couple oh so much! Throw in some funny lines about Zest body soap and Canadian references and you’ve got me totally engaged in this story. Honestly, it felt like a fan girl’s heaven. This story was definitely a 5 out of 5 stars for me!

Ainsley Booth’s Love Your Love was a lovely poly romance which following Win and Penny (and Tanya, you can’t forget about Tanya). Cute crushes, spooning and fun quotes about beaming and blooming flowers fill this little story up. I like Ainsley’s way with words – it somehow felt so elegant yet so natural! This story moved very quickly and felt a little shorter to me, but it was still super sweet. 5 out of 5 stars!

And to top it off, Tamsen Parker’s Starlet Struck shed some light on causes AND included some super sexy F/F romance. Archer and Hadley make one wild pair – an activist and a Hollywood actress. The characters bring up causes dear to their heart, like the Rivera House which helps homeless LGBTQ teens, and I have to say that made me respect this book even more! At the end, we get the hottest ending that will rock most erotica fan’s socks off. The tension that built up to that part made it even better than I expected! Five out of five stars!

Overall, this is a great anthology for romance and erotica lovers. It’s definitely an R rated book, but it’s worth the read if you love some sexy scenes.

Five out of five stars.

#BookReview Safe Landings by Kay Brandt

Safe Landings is a very strange title for a book as risky and erotic as this one.

This book is pure erotica. We start out with a woman who’s having an extramarital affair yet still seems to have a relatively happy marriage. Each page is filled with naughty comments, and eventually R-rated sexy material. But this book isn’t just all love scenes and sexy comments, there’s an epic plane crash that takes this book on a wild narrative.

It was honestly so refreshing to read a book that focuses on erotic content have an actual plot. I like when there’s a story to follow along that isn’t just a few people bumping and grinding on each other. The plane crash and the drama of the aftermath was a really interesting story to follow and I have to give some massive creds to Kay for writing it in. Plots like this switch the genre up and make it way more interesting the readers instead of having the same old, same old. The therapy, post traumatic stress, early retirement and life changes a traumatic event causes were all parts of this story. Even just a little bit of awareness is better than nothing, so I have to say I’m impressed on that note.

If you thought Kay Brandt was just an erotic novel writer, you’d be wrong. Seriously, if you had any doubts that she had serious writing abilities, this book will change your mind. This is only from 2015 so I can’t imagine how much better Kay has gotten over the years. I guess I will just have to find out when I read more of her books!

My favourite part of this book was the innuendos. Whether intentionally or not, they absolutely kill me. They had me laughing and giggling like a school girl. I suddenly felt like a kid again when someone said spell ICUP when some of the innuendos showed up.

If I had one negative thing to say about this book, it would be that some of the conversations didn’t feel “real”. They were very forced and didn’t seem like a normal person would have that sort of conversation. At least, I don’t have conversations like that so who knows! It wasn’t every conversation, it was only a few, but it felt very strange reading them.

Overall, this book is one hot, erotic story. If you want lots of sex scenes then this book is for you! Safe Landings also has a good plot line, so it’s not just smut, but it is highly erotic and R rated.

Four out of five stars.

#BookReview Hotwives and their Dirty Desires by Kay Brandt

Hotwives and their Dirty Desires is packed full of stories for every steamy romance lover to enjoy!

This R rated book is full of sexy scenes, not intended for a young reading audience.

The first short story, Berlin and Cody, features a young 21 year old painter named Cody and the beautiful Berlin who meet through a dating agency. Ms. K runs a super sexy dating agency where older women can meet younger men, which starts out story off. This pair is straight to the point about what they want, which is a fantastic and unique quality for the romance novels I usually read.

This story is super hot, sexy and full of steamy scenes. I wasn’t even a couple pages in and the heat had already been turned up to 100! If you’re the type of reader who likes to get right into the action, then this story is for you! The one thing that really got me about this book, though, was that they were getting hot and heavy in a cab and the driver didn’t notice?! Maybe my city’s taxi drivers are just too into chatting with the customers, because they were getting it on and not a single word was said to them! Seriously, I’d love to see the comedy side story of that guy explaining to someone how his day went.

Story number two – The Post-Marital Lesbian Affair. This time, a lovely woman named Autumn wants to welcome Berlin into her marriage with open arms. Berlin and Autumn take center stage for this steamy love affair. This story is a bit darker and a bit steamier, cranking up this room to a sauna.

Story number three, Berlin and Cody’s First Menage, brings Cody in on the action with the ladies. Story four continues on with Autumn’s husband and story five introduced Casey and Paul.

Each story got bigger and more full of erotica. I would definitely label this book under erotica and not romance, if you’re particular about your genres. Kay Brandt can clearly write an erotic scene and make it hot and dirty.

I did have one major worrying point from this set – Cody and Berlin didn’t use protection. That’s, you know, their choice and all, but it seemed mighty weird for a story to not even bring it up. They just jumped in, not knowing one another and hoped for the best. It’s not a downside but it’s not an upside either.

Overall, this book is super raunchy (in a good way). If you like hot, steamy, erotic books that go right into the action then you’ll love this book!

Four out of five stars!

#BookReview Best Women’s Erotica of the Year, Volume 4 by Rachel Kramer Bussel et al.

When I saw that my fave Tamsen Parker had a short story in this collection, I jumped on it! She is always apart of the best compilations and anthologies, so this book became a must read for me. And of course, this book did not let down! There are stories for every erotica lover (whether you love the crazy hot and heavy, or the sensual and romance).

The best part about this collection is that there are so many varieties of stories. Not only does this introduce the reader to each author’s work, but it’s just enough to get your mouth watering for more. When I read anthologies like these, I love picking out new authors to follow. You can test the waters with each little story to see the true potential of each author to open up your bookshelf for a few more readers.

I definitely had my faves from the collection – Tamsen Parker, Alessandra Torre and Mica Kennedy to name a few – but they were all fantastic! I think this is the best way to check out some new authors without committing to 12+ 300 page novels.

Each story had a few chapters to sink the reader’s teeth into, and all of them were spicy! The diverse types of stories is also a nice touch – BDSM, existing couples, new couples, experimenting, kinks and more! It dabbles in each “category” of erotica to spice up the reader’s life.

Overall, I think this is an excellent collection. There’s a little bit of erotica for every type of reader and it is truly the best way to find a new author (or two!) to add to your collection.

Five out of five stars!

#BookReview Spin by C.D. Reiss

36462258

Spin by C.D. Reiss is a must read for lovers of erotic romance!

This book is mega hot and obsessive! Mobsters? Cars? Heck yes! This felt like General Hospital on erotica/romance steroids!

This is book 1 of 3, so I’m sure the following books are steamy and amp up this series, but for now I’ll settle on reviewing Spin (which was in the A Love Thing anthology – highly recommend, by the way!).

Theresa, Daniel, Antonio, Katrina and Johnathan are exciting characters to follow in this book. Antonio’s the mob boss, yet Theresa finds him highly attractive. Theresa and Antonio are the main leads, but the other characters are also lovable. Antonio gave me Sonny vibes (from General Hospital) but insanely hot and the perfect alpha male lead. Theresa is a career driven woman (I relate so hard to her) and isn’t the Mary Sue or Plain Jane character some of these books tend to have.

Keep in mind, this book is not PG – it’s hot and heavy! The sex scenes are steamy and will bring the summer heat! This is the “Fifty Shades” book we needed – hot, lovable characters and excellent writing!

This book is a roller coaster of action and romance, and C.D. Reiss lifts this book up to new levels. I definitely loved this book and would love to see more books by C.D. Reiss on my local bookstores shelves! I highly recommend this book and it’s a must read on my shelf!

Four out of five stars!!

#BookReview A Week In New York by Louise Bay

22428861

A Week In New York is an addicting, romantic read that will sweep you off your feet.

This book was FANTABULOUS! Yes, fantastic and fabulous all in one! It was full of romance, some super sexy and erotic scenes, and kept me hooked to every single word on every single page.

Anna is trying to get over a nasty break-up, and in walks Ethan – a super hot, super rich man who can fulfill her every desire. But, she has rules! She isn’t going to go into another relationship, since the last one didn’t go to well. Yet, something builds between them – something hot and desirable. A Week in New York follows these characters and their antics while Anna is in New York (hence, the title).

The book is mega hot – there’s sexy, erotic scenes that will get your heart racing! It’s not the dirtiest or most R rated I’ve read, but it’s still really hot! The down and dirty time is written well and will get you heated! There’s more sex than romance, but it is a nice fit between these two characters. Their chemistry makes this sort of relationship work well, but that’s because Louise Bay is a fantastic writer. She develops their relationship really well within the constraints of one short novel. I honestly can’t wait to see how this pair develops in the future installments.

I also really enjoyed the references throughout this novel – they are romantic yet nerdy references that really added to the story. It makes it feel more real than it is.

My only con is – WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT ENDING?! A cliffhanger?! Louise Bay wants to kill me! I HAVE to keep reading this series after she had me fall in love with these characters and want to know what happens to Anna and Ethan! What a jerk she is! Being a good writer and making me want more!

I would highly recommend this sexy novel to anyone who loves romance and erotica. It’s also a short read and highly addicting, so if you’re looking for a simple novel to read in one sitting – you’ve found it!

Five out of five stars! Holy heck, that was hot!
